Photos, information and travel guides for your stay.

Galle is a major city on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka, 119 km (74 mi) south of Colombo. Galle is the provincial capital and largest city of Southern Province, Sri Lanka and is the capital of Galle District.

As you explore Galle, you'll quickly realize that this city has a unique blend of old-world charm and modernity. The city is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Galle Fort – which is a testament to the city's colonial past. The fort was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century. Today, it is a bustling hub of activity, with restaurants, cafes, shops, and galleries housed within its walls.

Galle is also known for its pristine beaches. Head to Unawatuna Beach for a day of swimming, surfing, or simply lounging on the golden sands. The beach is lined with restaurants and bars, making it the perfect spot to catch a stunning sunset with a cold drink in hand.
